Concepts in set theory, such as functions and relations, appear explicitly or implicitly in every branch of mathematics. This text is an informal, non-axiomatic treatment of the theory of sets. The material is divided into three Parts, since the logical development is thereby not disturbed while the usefulness as a text and reference book on. S. An Outline of Set Theory by James M. Henle Download PDF EPUB FB2

I used this book in a Mathematical Logic course, and I found it helpful when giving examples for Set Theory. It was definitely easy to follow, but we didn't really reference it that often. However, I wouldn't look at it on it's own, but then again it says it's an outline so I doubt one would mistake it for a text book/5(21).

An Outline of Set Theory is organized into three parts: the first presents definitions and statements of problems, the second offers suggestions for their solutions, and the third contains complete solutions. Topics include standard undergraduate set theory, as well as considerations of nonstandard analysis, large cardinals, and Goodstein's Cited by: 8.

This book is designed for use in a one semester problem-oriented course in undergraduate set theory. The combination of level and format is somewhat unusual and deserves an explanation.

Normally, problem courses are offered to graduate students or selected undergraduates. I have found, however. Really clear introduction to set theory, with exercices and answers. A lot of subjects are explained: set theory, lattices and their connections with boolean algebras.

However the book suffers from several shortcomings: a lot of typo or errors are contained in the answers and they are either relatively easy or too hard (proving a theorem /5.

#1 – Mindmap + Book Outline. This is the main method of outlining that we teach in Self-Publishing School. The mindmap method requires you to create a brain dump based on your book’s topic.

Write your topic in the center of a piece of paper, then use lines and words to draw as many connections as you can. this book is my response. I wrote it in the rm belief that set theory is good not just for set theorists, but for many mathematicians, and that the earlier a student sees the particular point of view that we call modern set theory, the better.

It is designed for a one-semester course in set theory at the advanced undergraduate or beginning. Buy An Outline of Set Theory (Dover Books on Mathematics) by Henle, James M (ISBN: ) from Amazon's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders/5(2). A5: Set Theory 5 7.
